Husband/Father is in Irbil - just been bombed - do I tell my 10 year old?

My OH (kids dad) has just faced timed to tell me that he's ok. They've locked them into a building and are now considering whether to evacuate home or not. They're seeing whether this will escalate or not. My gut feeling is not to tell the kids but my 10 year old is due to go away for 5 days tomorrow morning on her PGL trip. She's full of angst over going away for so long already so I'd really rather not tell her but equally I wouldn't want her to find out ON her holiday that there's been bombing, because then I wouldn't be around to reassure her. Do you think its over the top to warn her teachers?

I would tell her teachers but not tell her until you know more.

Their is no harm in telling her teachers & if you think she would handle it ok then sit her down & explain what's happened but he is ok

Any chance you'll find out more before she goes? If so, delay.

If not, then I'd go with telling her that there's been another bombing, but your DH has been in touch and he's not hurt.

Warn the teachers if there is a possibility of worse news to follow.

Tell her teachers. That is perfectly ok. Is it likely she will find out when she is away? It is very unlikely the children will have any access to any media.
I would be tempted to not say anything just yet. But its your call. There isn't really a right or wrong answer here. Trust your own instincts.
