Ok so the I pods gone!!

Dd1 is yr 7 and become bloody obsessed with her friends. Literally wants to go to the park every night after school then face timing as soon as she gets back.
I e tried putting boundaries on place but she is incapable of sticking to them and last night face timed her friend at 11.10. Must have come down for I pod as not allowed in her room at night.
So I've confiscated it until she's mature enough to have a bit of self control.
Anyone else had this and done similar?

Nope sorry DD only 2 but what I can contribute is that I still don't know what year 7 is but I spent most of my time at secondary school phoning my friends the instant i got home and not getting off the phone til gone 11. Used to drive my parents nuts. They often worked evenings so one or the other was usually out and trying to phone home to get a lift from the station (in those days no mobiles...) so although it's super annoying I'd say it's quite normal. If she's face timing people she actually knows rather than folks she's met on the internet, surely that's a bonus?

She still has her phone but the I pod seems to be the problem.
When I give it back it will be for controlled times to start with.

Surprised nobody else has replied! I distinctly remember talking for well over 2 hrs a night to one friend who was no longer in my class for GCSEs so must have been 12 or 13 at most.

my parents particularly laissez faire but I've always been a major procrastinator and did my homework in the wee hours. I have a lot of academic qualifications so it clearly didn't slow me down too much...

Don't iPods use the wifi for FaceTime? If so, just switch the Internet off in the evening.

You can limit the iPods access to the Internet. There are several ways to do this, you can either use a program such as Net Nanny or your internet provider may provide its own program-
BT info, see page 20

This way you can set up when your DD can access the internet and which devices she can access it from. It would be easier than hiding her IPod.
