4 month old bedtime

Any ideas how I delay DS2 bedtime?! He used to go between 5.30-6.30pm and sleep right thru until 6-7 next morning.

These last couple of days he is ready for bed at 4.30pm! We tried to delay it yesterday and it resulted in him becoming 'overtired' and taking 2hrs to finally settle to sleep!

We had a bad night with him (he has a cold at present and we think he may be teething too)

Lo and behold, he's crying for bed now and has been since 4.20pm!

Should I just 'go with it' whilst he's under the weather?

We never had this with DS1 Confused

what age is he and what naps does he have?

phantomhairpuller · 18/09/2013 17:26

He's 19 weeks and has 2-3 naps a day depending on what we are doing during the day (he naps much better in his cot, so if we are out and about he will have 1-2 short naps iykwim)

I think I would stay home for a few days to get the naps established. I think he should be having about 3/4 hours a day, assuming that you would want him to go 7-7. Make the last nap at about 3pm and he should be able to make it until about 6. Good luck!

2/3 naps doesn't seem like enough for a 4 month old. 3 naps yes but not 2.

I'd aim for a short Am, good lunch time nap, short pm which takes him through to bedtime. But if he settles at 4.30pm for bed then so be it for now!
