Have there been any developmental changes recently? My son's nightime sleep went a bit haywire at around that time, just as he'd discovered how to roll onto his tummy and started babbling a lot more. They're a bit better now (4 weeks later) because he spends tons of time rolling around in the day to get the practice in so he doesn't get stuck when he rolls in the cot.

I've never used a dummy as my son uses his thumb! Could you try to introduce a comfort blanket instead as it's a lot easier for him to find in the night?

Could it just be a blip if he's under the weather? Might be worth getting the gp to check for any ear/urine infection etc.

He could of course just be playing you?!

My DD's sleep went a bit haywire around that point, for no apparent reason. I think it was part teething and part the so-called '4 month sleep regression'. It did pass, so hopefully it will be the same for your lo.
