DS making himself vomit

If you try and get him to do something he doesn't want to do (or stop him doing something) he's trying to make himself vomit. And usually succeeding.

He's 17 mo and we're getting this routine every bed time now. No matter what we try.

He also does it during the day, eg. if he's throwing something/hitting one of us and we make him stop.

Everything he doesn't want to do results in him screaming and gagging until he's sick. You can hear him forcing it.

I'm so worn out and angry with it. Especially as I'm dealing with hyperemesis gravidarum and I'm finding it hard enough not to vomit as it is.

Make it a non event - clear it/him up without comment, no eye contact, no talking to him.

Fingers crossed this phase doesn't last too long x

Good grief! What a nightmare combination!

I really feel for you. I had horrible morning sickness but it never became HG and I know I would never have coped with clearing up vomit.

I really wish there was a magic strategy but totally ignoring the fact that he is doing it is the only sensible approach.

I really hope for your sake that he gets the message that it doesn't achieve anything soon.

Well he's asleep finally, was sick again after I posted. Just cleaned him up and laid him back down in the bed. I really hope he learns it doesn't work soon, I'm so fed up of it.

Wow, poor you op, definitely an awful combo!

My dd has sometimes done this at bedtime and the only thing I've found to - possibly - help is not putting her to bed in a completely dark room. That way, when she does it I don't have to lights on to clean her up - means, as others have suggested, she's not causing as much impact/ getting big results from doing it.

Really good luck with this phase passing and also with the dreaded hg!!!
