Nearly 4 year old being sick when upset

My dd is regularly sick when she gets upset. It's not a new problem, but sometimes seems to stop, only to start again. She gags easily, and getting a cold or cough, which often makes her sick anyway seems to start the cycle again.

Triggers can be getting upset as not getting her own way / me shouting, but also other things eg after having a bump or getting a bit stuck at softplay. Working through calmer, easier, happier parenting to stop the shouting on my part, but don't know how to get her to calm herself down.

Hoping someone has some ideas, or has at least experienced the same thing. So difficult to stay calm in the face of more sicky clothes, carpet , or entire softplay
:(

Do you shout a lot? Daily? Weekly?

I guess it depends on whether you believe she has any control over it.

If you think she could calm down but is escalating it for effect you could try getting her to help clear it up every time. Creating an unpleasant task for you by throwing up could suddenly become much less attractive if she is creating one for herself too.

Don't make it a punishment. Just a request for help like you would use to ask her to help put her toys away.

Stress vomiting. DS was like this. Couldn't control it & wasn't deliberate.

If he got upset, hurt etc he would cry and vomit.

Only lasted till he was around 5 or 6.

I had a friend whose child was like this. She is a very calm sort, would never ever shout etc. The child eventually got over it. No help really, just posted to say it happens.
