Taking ages to eat (DS, aged 7)

DS, just turned 7, has always taken a while to eat each meal. But this is now starting to get ridiculous. Took an hour last night to eat a bowl of pasta. Meal times are always at the same time, and always something that he likes/has eaten before. But both DH and I are starting to lose our tempers (never a good idea to resolve a situation at the dinner table). Any suggestions about how to get him to eat more quickly? Am sure that there have been threads on this before, so happy if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Could there be a physical reason?

DS1 had undiagnosed tongue tie and was always slow at chewing and swallowing. Also, if nose breathing is difficult, this too can make chewing and swallowing tricky.

DS1 is much better since his ties were revised
