can I have my evenings back?

Dd is 9 weeks old and sleeping from around midnight until 6:30 am, having a quick feed and then back to sleep until midday. She is most awake in the evening from 7-11. around
I'd be perfectly happy with this but dd1 (2.5 ) wakes around 7 am and goes to bed around 7pm. Aside from when I'm sleeping I have literally no child free time and dh and I have no time alone together at all. I'd really like to adjust dd2s schedule so she sleeps in the evening and is awake in the morning. Is this possible? if so how? Or am I expecting too much and this is how life is with a toddler and a newborn? it just all feels a bit relentless at the moment!

I think you're expecting too much TBH, if she's going right through at 9wo you're doing exceptionally well!

The good news is it doesn't last long and will start improving by 3-4 months. I started a degree when ds1 was 10 months as I suddenly had all this time in the evening I didn't know what to do with!

I strongly suspect you're right and I should count my blessings! Smile Smile

well, you could try waking her up in the morning, and then encouraging her to feed through the morning. That way she will be ready to sleep earlier, so she develops more of a day night pattern.

BUT my dd1 had a pattern we tried to change (she slept 7pm - 12 pm and then awake all night) and we never managed to shift it. Finally at around 7 months she managed to sleep through. So I wonder if you tried to shift it, if she might sleep early evening and then wake during the night
