For a while now my two and a half year old son has moments when he will just stare into space and doesn't respond to my voice. Recently its become worse and I might have to clap or make a noise to 'bring him back'. Is this normal?

Hello,
No experience of this personally but my nephew did this, he was referred for tests as apparently it can be a sign of some sort of epilepsy, sorry if that sounds scary
It turned out that he was absolutely fine so could be nothing

Again, don't want to scare you unnecessarily but ice also got a friend whose little boy has epilepsy and this was the first thing they noticed.
On the other hand though, my ds can go into day dreams at time so it may be just that.
I'd get it checked out to ease your mind. It's most likely nothing but best to know either way.
Good luck op!

Yes I thought maybe petit mal seziures too. look
But I'm not a doctor. Best go and get him checked out. And don't worry, even if it is, its not the end of the world.

This doesn't sound like typical behaviour from a child, let alone a "boy". I'm not sure why you would think this is "boy behaviour".

My first thought was a petit mal seizure where they are "absent" for a few minutes. I would get it checked out, but don't worry. He could just be a daydreamer.
