2 year old wee smells horrible in the mornings

My dd is 2 and her nappy in the morning smells awful. She drinks plenty of water and juice. The nappy is pretty heavy too so she is passing a lot of urine. I don't think there is an infection as we saw a paediatrician who said she doesn't have one and scanned her kidneys etc (we live in Spain, private paeds check everything). Does anyone experience this with their child? Perhaps it's teething wee? Whatever it is it's pretty horrible lol.

It happens with mine, I think its pretty normal. morning wee is always more 'concentrated' in adults too.

My ds had stinky wee's all the time when he wore nappies and I've since heard people say pampers have a smell so maybe it could be the nappies that have an odour. x

Are you sure it;s not the nappy itself? Thye do smell very odd when wet. If v wet they smell worse than usual.

had this happen with dd, wee only smelt with boots own brand nappies.

Also if child gets hot in the night (under a quilt) it is basically cooked wee! Lovely!

I'm a nurse and know what infected pee smells like so panicked when my ds started to have smelly urine. I ended up at the walk in centre and gp there dipsticked a sample and gave him the all clear, he told me that green veg can make toddlers pee smell horrible and sure enough, he'd had cabbage the night before. Always happens now every time he's had green veg. Could this be what's making yours smell bad??

I'm trying to think what she ate that day. She didn't have that smell today. We r in Spain so it's still quite hot here. Perhaps it is a mixture of green veg and heat lol.

I found that DS's wee started smelling horrible in the morning once he started concentrating his urine (production of ADH hormone that concentrates the urine and allows kids to become dry at night, can happen any time between 2 and 7 yrs old). The smelly nappy was because he wasn't peeing all night but was then doing one humungous concentrated wee when he woke up in the morning. Sure enough as soon as he potty trained he was dry at night almost immediately cos he was getting up and doing his morning pee in the toilet. Hope that makes sense
