Does this sound normal? Toddler settling at nursery

My son has been at nursery for nearly 2 months. He is 26 months. He goes 2 days a week. When I dropped him off he always used to cry and then stop after a few seconds after a cuddle with his key worker.

Today he didnt cry at all and when I said goodbye and just started playing with some toys and 2 other children who were sitting with him. He has been happy and normal since I picked him up.

Do you think that this is normal time frame for settling like this? I am a bit of a worrier and and not too sure if I'm worrying needlessly and he is happy there now ir something else.

How long did it take your toddlers to settle?

Yes, sounds normal. My DS never cried when he started nursery at 25 months actually, he settled immediately!

Did you post before about your DS crying at drop-off and being pleased to see you at pick-up?

Perfectly normal, especially if he's only there for two days a week. Calm yourself and be happy he's so well adjusted and happy, it sounds like you're doing a super job

Sounds like he is happy and comfortable there, OP Smile
My youngest started at 24/25m, preschool and just waved us off Grin Sad

I like to think it's because he is so secure and he knew we would come back...but he just wasn't bothered. They were fab though.

hettienne yes that was me! Blush I know everyone said he sounds settled and I looked up attachment behaviour an he was showing the typical secure tracked behaviour BUT I still get worried about it.

I know I have nothing to worry rationally about, but he seems to have settled in so well and easily and really loves going that I worry that maybe he is pleased to be out of his boring home and away from boring mummy! Him going there was the first time away from me or dp ever so it has been a big step (mainly for me though it seems Confused )

DS loves nursery because it is way more exciting than home - loads of kids, toys, huge garden!

Your little boy sounds absolutely fine, I hope you can relax that he is settled and happy at home and nursery.

That is the same for my ds, he loves the sand and mud patches in the garden especially! Also since we don't have a garden at home I guess this is one of the big attractions for him. Thank you, feel much better about it all now.
