Seems really advanced - met her for the first time today and she can clap, crawl, cruise really well, wave, she can pat her head when her mum said "can you pat your head?" (Ie, not by showing her), she said "all done" (well ah dun, but it was obvious what she said), as well as (I'm pretty sure) "down" "oh dear" (ah dee) and "clap".

I don't remember my DS being able to do all this (although he could crusie, wave and crawl like a demon!) - do you reckon this is advanced for an 8mo? My friend didn't seem to think it was that unusual.

Seems advanced but don't worry! My DD 1 was VERY advanced and could crawl, walk and talk before any other babies we knew....long sentences at about 14 months...but now she's 9 and very average in all but Art and English Lit. It will level!

Maybe she is worried that people will think she is boasting. My DS does seam to me his milestones on the early side of average. So any time someone suggest DS might be advance my immediate reaction is to say no development happens at all different rates. Basically I don't want to be a competitive parent.

Yes, she is nice, and normal so maybe she's just playing it down whilst inside she's going "YAY, someone sees my child's a genius"

That's advanced, but like people have said it usually levels out. This doesn't mean we can't all be proud of our little Einstein's though.
