Poo question! How many times a day....

... does your toddler poo?

Sorry for such a question but my 20 month olds' bowel movements are all over the place at the moment. He used to go 2 to 3 times a day but at the moment is only going every 30/40 hours. The Doctor suggested his pattern may be changing so I just wondered what's "normal" for your kids around this age? Thanks.

I think they do adjust, I guess as their body develops. Even if their diets don't change, how their bodies deal with it does change. My 26 mth old is a one or two day, but he can go a day or without.

My 19mo usually does one between 8-9.30am and another around 12/1230. She sometimes does 3 a day. Her older brother (2.10) usually does one around one of those times but not the other. However when he was a young baby (2/3mo) he didn't poo for 17 days! I swear! We got prescribed Movicol and that set things straight. If you're worried you might increase fruit & water at breakfast (assuming you haven't already tried that).
