fasination with their bottom and bits

i am so sorry about this but im a bit embarrassed to talk to anyone about this and thought mumsnet could help.
my 7 and 4 year old daughters are fascinated by their bottoms and lady bits. one or the other seem to have their hands down their knickers but i thought that was just what boys did.
i have explained that messing with your bottom is dirty but they just laugh and think its all funny.
i understand that curiosity is normal but i thought they would stop once i explained it was dirty
please help as i really don't know what to do

I wouldn't say that playing with their "ladybits" as you put it, is dirty, as you will potentially set up issues with that when they are older. The way I would approach that would be to say that it's ok but that they need to do it in private. Then I would keep repeating that they need to take their hands out when they are around you, but without making a big thing of it. The less attention the better.
