My DS is a very active chap. Never stops unless he is asleep, eating or being read to. He has been walking for 6 months now but actually rarely walks but runs instead. It is a problem because he appears to lose control over his footing as he runs and often topples forward. So far we haven't had any major accidents but plenty of minor ones. I get very nervous letting him run around unless we are on grass. His little buddies all seem much more stable and controlled in their movements when walking and running. Most of them walk around rather than run too. I took my DS to the doctors the other day for a different reason and his ears were checked. She didn't express any concern although it was relating to a different complaint.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone thinks its a medical problem that I should pursue with the doctors. Or, is it just that some toddlers want to run before they are ready?
