4 month old likes muslin across face!!

My 4mth old only seems to fall asleep when he has a muslin across his face! I have to wait until asleep & then remove from his face & put out of reach.
All seems fine until he wakes in night & won't go back to sleep without it again.
Don't want to leave him to it in case he suffocates.

Anyone else have this problem?

He has just moved into big cot which isn't going well & trying not to let him get into more bad sleep habits. Already has a dummy & still bf 2/3 times a night!

Dd and one of her friends are the same as this, a muslin is very thin and breathable so I don't worry too much. I just do the same, remove once they are asleep

Hate to break this to you but DS (12) still has a muslin that he likes to sleep with across his face.... They put something in 'em I tell yah!

yup mine too, but i also move it when she's asleep, set your phone alarm? so even if you fall asleep you know you'll wake up to remove it once he's asleep again?

My DS is exactly the same! He's 6m now but has always liked things across his face. I also have to check on him and remove blanket/muslin from his face. He quite likes his cellular blanket for naps which is good as it's got the holes in it & if he's napping with his dummy then it kind of raises it up over his nose. Not that I let him sleep with it over his face anyway!!

I like to crochet so am thinking of making a granny square blanket as it's got loads of holes in it.

Yup, my now 3.5 year old always has a muslin or 20 to hand when he goes to sleep. When he was a baby he'd drape it across his face. I was stopped about a billion times by old ladies panicking that he was suffocating himself Shock. Clearly he never did! Grin

my ds4 did the same and still does age five. they are light and breathable so i wouldnt worry re suffocation. its very common and is a comfort for them.

Thanks everyone, good to know he's not the only one!
Sounds like he'll be doing it for a few more years yet too!
