Hey, can anyone tell me about 6 month olds needing vitamin drops? My daughter is refusing formula so is only breast milk so I assume she needs iron supplement now? Thanks xxx

The guidelines are that exclusively BF babies should have vitamin drops, it's not specifically about iron. Also these are just guidelines so totally up to you if you follow it. My DD was exclusively BF until 14 mo and I was only aware of the guidance at around 9 mo oops. So I gave her drops occasionally but almost no one else I know bothered and there are no ill effects.

all babies/children from 6 months to 5 years are advised to supplement vitamins A,C and D (unless the baby is formula fed and having over 500mls of formula per day).

you can buy them in the chemist or through Healthy Start if you qualify. You could ask your hv for info

Can I get them on prescription? I can't afford them as I'm a single parent and struggling

www.healthystart.nhs.uk/healthy-start-vouchers/do-i-qualify/ - if you qualify for healthy start you could get them free
