Hi, I am just looking for a little re-assurance that my dd at 7yrs 8mths is normal. She is 153 cm, has developed pubic hairs and hair under her armpits. She was 142cm 10 mths ago. She has always been tall and we have been continually positive about it. I had thought it to be genetic ;both parents are 178cm and 180cm respectively. However, recently 'people' have been mentioning 'early onset puberty'. This is worrying me a little.

Anyone with any experience to share?...We have now been referred to the hospital by our GP. Thanks

Didnt want you to go unanswered. The one really positive thing from your post is that your GP is taking this seriously and has referred you Smile

Hopefully someone will be along soon with experience.

Thanks. I really would like to know if there is anyone with similar size dd. She goes into Year 3 in September she has got a good set of friends but last week she was teased about her armpit hairs for the first time. A positive child but I am not sure this was great for her self-esteem - I did point out that all girls eventually have hairs under their armpits.

Yes, it's good we have a referral...took 11 months; initial breast bud were put down to athletic muscle tissue!

Which are you finding harder to cope with, the height or the puberty? If its the puberty Di you think starting a new thread with early onset puberty in the title!

Thanks I will, although I was wondering if they were linked. Her height is well over the 95th/99th percentile. I want to have a greater understanding before we hit the hospital. As I have found that they tends to tell you want they what rather than all of it unless you ask the right questions. The stuff on precocious puberty is seems really scary.

Don't really know much about it but my dn is on the same centile at age 8 and doesn't have EOP. The only girl I know who had it was quite short.

So your 8yr is 153.3? So height isn't an issue.
