She got one for Christmas, you know the interactive ones. She didn't play with it much at first and we thought it too old for her, as it's for 4+ and she's only 3.5. But recently she has started to play with it every day, for hours at a time! I wouldn't mind so much if she learnt something from it, but I'm not sure as to its educational value, she's far too young to start reading yet so most of it is probably going over her head. But honestly she plays with it non-stop and we've had to start limiting her to perhaps one hour a day.
It was wonderful at first as she would sit there quietly, but now it's worrying. Should I be worried? Or is this normal? And just how educational are they for someone her age?

My ds (3.4) has one of these for his 3rd birthday. We also thought it would be way over his head, but he really took to it. At first he just listened to the stories and played around with touching the pen to the pictures, but recently I've noticed that he plays the games quite methodically. He clearly understands a lot of what's going on in the book. We got him a new 'book' for it and he enjoys that too. He plays with it much less now than when it was new, but it is still one of his favourites. I took it with me to an opitcian's appointment when I was obliged to take him along!

My ds was bought one for his third christmas and he is now four. He played with it for ages and it didn't worry me in the slightest. He got to grips with the games very quickly and about 8 months later we bought him a new one with new games. He doesn't play with it as much anymore but I tnink that it has helped him with his letters, colours e.t.c.
