Bumbo and nappy filling

Weird one this but does anyone else's dc start to strain as soon as you put them in a bumbo or similar seat? My ds is 4 months and has had a bumbo for about a week. He was getting so bored lying on his gym and can happily muck about with his toys on the tray for a good while in his bumbo.

However, almost as soon as he goes in there he starts making pooing faces, goes red, strains, then invariably fills his nappy. This just seems weird to me! Could it be gravity???

ye i had exactly this. and with the car seat.
i think its something to do with the position they sit in kinda encourages everything down and out!!!

I think sometimes they get into a habit or a routine of going when in a familiar or comfortable place. DD went every time she was in the car seat for a few months then later on every bath included a poo. Strange to us but understandable really and nothing to worry about.

My DS is 16 weeks and is prone to poo on an epic scale in the bumbo. He is even worse in the jumperoo - it seems to jump the poo straight out of him Shock

I've been putting it down to gravity too, and getting used to being more upright after so much lying down.

My DD is 7 months and started about the same time in her bumbo and still does it now. Also now she does it in her walker.

DD does the same thing, in her high chair!
