8 mo will self settle at bedtime but not during night

Hmmmmph, I feel like I'm constantly posting her with one thing or another!

I have been reading about sleep training and all different approaches but the one thing they all have in common is getting your LO to self settle. My problem is that she can self settle at bedtime but not when she wakes up in the night. Currently she wakes about 4 times and always starts crying. About 80% of the time we have to go to her and resort to the dummy as we would literally be up for 2 hrs with her not settling (we've tried!). The remaining 20% of the time she will go back to sleep herself. She's been like this for weeks now and it's so frustrating as we know she can do it.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so please tell me it gets better!

DD just turned one, I have posted more than once about her night waking on here. Four times was about the norm at 8 months. She has never had a dummy but I'm still BFing and that's her equivalent. Am delighted to tell you the over the past 3 - 4 weeks she started self settling at night and is now sleeping brilliantly with maybe one wake up in a 12 hour period. I have changed nothing, she has just done it herself. It gets better!
