I have finally cracked and put DS1 back in nappies. He was just weeing all over the place and not telling me til after it was done. We managed just two successful potty attempts in 3 days. He's not ready.

I feel more relaxed now he has nappy and trousers on. We can start doing stuff again instead of hanging round the house me waiting for the next mop outing. There's a little tinge of disappointment though Sad

Oh well, try again next month I suppose...

My friend has 4 kids and at 27 months she took the nappy off each one and each one was 'trained' within 48 hours. If you want them to learn without being forced I've come around to the idea that you just need to wait until they're ready. They will just do it themselves when they want to. I reckon you did the right thing. I've been letting mine run nappy-free feral for months now and he still has to watch himself wee before finding the potty - and refuses to wear a nappy. Nightmare!

If I only had the one child I might consider cold turkey but I can't watch him all the time for signs with a near-crawler as well. Feral is ok at home when its warm but not much point when he's chilly and wants to stay inside.

He starts nursery in september, maybe they can help.

You've sown the seeds now, so he may well decide for himself when he wants to do it.

We gave up with DD1 and then she waited until we had a real crisis on our hands and decided that this was the best possible time to go nappy free. On the upside she was pretty much accident free within a weekend.

Smile hope so.

How old is he?

One thing about potty training is there's no point if they aren't ready! He'll get there eventually. We waited until our son was nearly 3 and he was dry within a week, very painless.
