My nibbling nephew

Can anyone help with this? My nephew is nearly seven and is currently chewing everything in sight; cuffs, sleeves, school jumpers, duvets and most recently his brand new bed. My sister is really concerned that he may have some underlying worry that he's not discussing, but he seems a laid back and easy going little boy who wouldn't appear to have concerns. Does anyone have any similar experiences or any advice which you could share with her? Thanks in advance.

I chewed everything as a kid. You can't let me loose near a pen to this day. You can get chewy things to chew instead.

I could do with this too. ds is always chewing at his clothes and has wrecked 2 dufflecoats

has he always done this or is it recent ? ds used to do it for sensory comfort when he felt awkward but has done less recently although I told him off for gnawing his school jumper sleeves !

My son used to chew his cuffs and the collar of his school shirt. We couldn't get him to say that anything was worrying him, but we think it was probably school related.
At the time we didn't make an issue of it and let him know that we were there for him. He didn't do it for long and has had no problems since.
Tell your sister not to worry, if it becomes more worrying would seek further advice.
