8 month old frantically waving arms around like a crazy person

I know that young babies have the startle reflex, mine did too and it used to wake her constantly. My issue now though is that at 8 month she waves her arms around like a crazed maniac and I'm not sure whether this is normal. It's usually when she's happy/excited but it's like she has no control over them. She always does it when eating too which means she never gets anything into her mouth as they just end u scattered everywhere. She also does it when the spoon comes near her mouth and sends things flying!

This may be a very silly question but is this normal? All other LO's I know of this age don't do it!

Tee hee... such funny little things!

If she's conscious and smiling then, yes, I'd say its normal! She's probably just enjoying experimenting with how her body moves.

My DD used to practice rolling her eyes in to the back of her head - which was hilarious because DH was convinced she was fitting!!

My DD did this for ages, I recently worked out it was the start of waving. Try waving back at her, bet she finds it hilarious :)

Yep my 7.5mo does this especially when he sees the weetabix coming towards him! They're just giddy kippers I think and unable to tell you how excited they are in any other way.

I did wonder whether it was a crazy form of waving!

My DD2 does this too it started at about 7/8 months, it is when she is excited, like she is jumping out of her skin! She is 13 months now and still does it on occasion but way less than she used to. It does look a bit odd though!
