Socialising toddlers!

My dd is 26 months and is the youngest of 4!
At home she is a wonderful, loving and funny little girl. She loves looking at her books, going for walks in the pushchair etc
BUT when I try to take her to child orientated places, to mix with children of a similiar age she changes to a whingey child and spends most of her time crying/screaming!
It's got to the point where I wonder why I bother. I dread taking her and we never have a good time. But I'm worried that she'll never mix well.
Children from from 4 upwards she loves.

Would I be doing her any harm to stop going to toddler groups etc for a few months? Or should I continue to go and hope she gets used to it?

Hi
Have you got a friend with a similar aged child that you could have a play date with? More of a one on one scenario.I wouldn't stop taking her there all together as she will just have to get used to it & she will eventually :)

Is it very noisy at playgroup? Ours was in a huge hall and got very busy and noisy. DS was never bothered but I found that dd always had a better time if we got there early, so were one if the first in. She seemed to have chance to settle before it got too crowded.

Perhaps she might prefer swimming or the free library sessions if you really want to give up on playgroup. Smile
