Ds has just started walking and is flatly refusing to sit in the bath-he wants to stand and walk holding on to the side cue much falling over, if we try and sit him down to play with his toys he's having a full on tantrum-he used to love his baths but they are a nightmare now-I've moved anything interesting from the side of the bath so he's not curious and put all his toys in the bath but he's not interested-any advice-I'm thinking about buying those non slip bath mat things but will this just encourage him-he does need a bath at night because of sun cream etc-help!!!

DS is exactly the same. We have a non slip mat in the bath but nothing stops him from standing and walking around. Might sound bad but we're just extra vigilant in case he slips. Sorry I can't be more help!

Is this a problem? We let DS stand in the bath, it's never occurred to me you wouldn't? We got ske of those coloured non slip dots, he has fallen a couple of times but its all part of learning, I always thought.

We had this... So switched to showers.

Bath mat/no distractions etc just did not fix it for us!

We've got the non slip dot things too, DS2 and DS3 like to walk around and around fast so it makes waves then stop and let the waves splash them and me and the whole of the bathroomHmm
They will usually sit down long enough to get washed but if they don't I just wash them standing up.
I've never seen it as a problem really.

I just let my DS walk around and make sure I am close by incase he falls. He loves it! I don't see the problem.

I could have written your post. Until about a week ago, 15 mo DS2 would sit in the bath for a good half hour playing with bath toys. Now he is standing all the time, throwing all of the toys over the side onto the floor. The floor is sopping, I am mopping up like an octopus, and he just cackles away Smile

I took the bath mat out so dd didn't have the choice Blush

highlandbird · 15/07/2013 19:47

DS did this, I just put a non slip bath mat in and let him get on with it, once the novelty wore off he began sitting down again, I'm not sure you can force it really just stay close by in case they do fall!

valiumredhead · 15/07/2013 19:51

Get a non slip mat and bath him standing up!
