DS (2) has only (to my knowledge) but once before. It was a little friend who had penned him into a corner and he seemed desperate to escape. Tonight he bit me on the arm while he was in the bath. Last night we had a truly terrible night for the first time in a long time so the whole day has been tough with both of us tired.

I was so shocked I actually said nothing just washed him while he cried and then dried him and dressed him, all the while saying nothing. He was clearly quite shocked as he was quiet. I did his story and milk time but was clearly upset (tried desperately not to bit I was crying). He turned and cuddled me and kissed me (he doesn't speak a lot yet). I have him a kiss and told him he'd hurt Mummy bit she loved him so much.

What else should I have done? Hmm

Not reacting was a good thing and quite difficult. My DS has ASD and we had lots of problems like this at a younger age. He enjoyed the sensation of biting luckily he never did it to his friends. He also enjoyed a big reaction good or bad he couldn't decipher.

I think you handled it very well. He also seemed to understand he had upset you. Don't mention it again and hopefully it's a one off.

There is a book called Teeth are not for biting. If it becomes a problem.

Good luck

It sounds like it was born out of tiredness and I don't honk you should worry too much about it. Seems like you responded really well and he obviously knew it was wrong that he had upset you.
