Help with routine for 5.5 month old

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting my LO back into routine??? He was in a brilliant routine, sleeping through from 7 until 7 for a while and then about a month ago it all went funny and now he's waking two or three times a night - often I can only resettle him in our bed (which means I dont get good sleep from 2am), and every day is different!! I don't even know where to start on getting him into any routine. He's also cut right back on his milk feeds - I did start weaning him and realised that I was probably giving him too much solids for his age, so I've cut right back on that, but it doesnt seem to have made a difference. I also want to sleep train him, and take away the dummy, but can I do this when he's not in a routine? Do I take away the dummy first thing in the morning, or at bedtime after bath....I am so confused, so tired and just want my boy to be his old happy self in a nice routine!!! Anyone have any suggestions??

Just because a baby sleeps through for a bit it doesn't mean they will continue to, it very normal for a child under 1 to wake up in the night.

Is she losing the dummy and that's what's waking her?

He, sorry.

I wouldn't sleep train a child under 1 at the very earliest personally.

I took away the dummy for y dd at 9 months and it was the best thing I ever did - she's slept properly every night 12 hours since then...I dont know what is waking him, sometimes its the dummy definitely, as he cant self settle and he cant find the dummy himself as he's still swaddled (I know I need to move him out of this, but he really doesnt sleep if he isn't)....other times I dont know what is waking him - have tried feeding, checking not too hot or cold etc etc - I think its coz he's not in good routine in the day, but dont know how to get him into routine :-(

I loosely swaddled until ds was at least 8 months so I wouldn't worry.

What do you mean by a routine? What do you want that's not happening now? You get up, have breakfast naps etc right? That IS a routine but times etc change as baby grows.

I don't have any solutions helpful but wanted you to know you are not alone in this! My DS4 is the same age and is doing exactly the same. He's cut 2 teeth in last 2 weeks and is making some major developments in terms of rolling round the room at a sprint, so I can only assume it is due to a developmental phase and it will pass soon hopefully

FWIW I did sleep training with DS1&2 and it was mental agony for me. DS3 just fell into sleeping of his own accord albeit a month or two later than the other two.

Sorry not to be more help... Keep going and chin up!
