me and my dh are full of cold. we think my 15 week old May be starting with it as last night was sleep hell night..she normally goes down by 8 and sleeps till at least 5, last night she kept waking up after a short sleep until 3am when she slept on me whilst I dozed propped up on pillows. This morning she sounds all snuffly although she has fed ok.
what can I do to help her? what can I give her to ease the symptoms? does calpol help? how about menthol chest rubs etc?
to make it worse were on holiday!!
thanks

A Vicks plug in would maybe help. My son was around the same age when he caught his first cold and I bought one and it seemed to help with her nose. Anything is worth a try! So sad seeing them like it. A little spoon of calpol may also help her feel better in herself. Get well soon

Have her sleep propped up on pillows.

Make the room steamy. A bowl of boiling water with a couple of drops of Baby Olbas oil.

Snuffle babe on the feet.

The Vicks plug ins are good I think, saline nose drops if nose becomes blocked and/or vapour rub on chest.

Have you tried the 4LittleOnes snot sucker from Boots? AMAZING

I don't think it's advisable to prop such a young baby up on pillows. Try a mild menthol rub (Vicks do a babies' version) a plug in (we've always used Karvol), raising the head end of her cot (put a hardback book under each leg) and maybe a muslin with a few drops of oilbas oil tied to the cot near her head. I think they can take calpol from 12 weeks- might help aches and pains but won't clear her nose. I'm afraid you may have a couple of rough nights.

Hope you are all better soon.

I think you can give calpol at 12 weeks for a temperature. Or over 4.5 kg iirc.

DD had a rotten cold at about the same age. Saline nasal drops really helped and I put snufflebabe on the soles of her feet. I also gave her calpol if needed.

As already said paracetamol and olbas oil. And if you need to elevate the sleeping position (helps the nose drain better), a rolled up towel under the mattress. Otherwise just hang in there with feeding, sleep amd cuddles. It's the first of many, and they get through it!
