Will I cope? Worried!

I've just found out I'm pregnant with DC2. We already have a beautiful but very spirited 18mo and I am really panicking about how we'll cope when the new baby comes. DD is adorable but keeps us on our toes, I guess like most 18mo she's on the go all day. She never ever sits still. She's an ok sleeper (although has started waking at 5am!) but goes through not so good patches with this too.

I guess I'm just looking for other peoples' reassuarance. Has anyone felt really worried about how they'll cope when pregnant with DC2 (or 3etc)?

Thanks

Ahhh bless you! You'll be absolutely fine!

My dd1 was 14mo when I became pregnant and I cannot believe how much she had changed and grown up by the time dd2 was born!

She was a baby at the beginning of my pregnancy and a toddler by the end.

Dd1 was also a 'highly strung' baby and I too worried about how I'd cope but dd2 couldn't be more different. She's so easy-going!

Try not to worry too much, just try to make the most of the special time you have left with dd1 until the new arrival.

I'm sure she will love her new little sibling and this time next year you'll love watching them playing together :)

Thanks ellesabe, that was a lovely post and very reassuring.
Like I said DD is so adorable, clever and funny but is also very willful, determined and already has a bit of a temper! It just makes me worry how everything will piece together when dc2 arrives. But I am really looking forward to them being close in age, being friends and playing together. My dd is also very loveable and does love being around other children and babies so I'm sure she'll love having her very own little baby to love and cuddle.

OP, I'm in the same boat. DD will be 2 when DC2 is born. She is absolutely exhausting! She sounds similar to your DD - funny, charming and lively, but yes stubborn and has lots of stamina - racing round all day, and very chatty and noisy. I keep telling myself she'll have calmed down in another 6 months and may actually sit still for a bit longer (I hope!).

I'm sure it will be lovely though and DD will be keep to help. Congrats on your pregnancy!

9 mths is a long time ... your DD will be quite different by the time your second arrives.

She'll probably settle down a bit and be less of a whirlwind, which will help. On the other hand, you will have to do a lot more negotiating, ha ha!

She will grow up a lot too as a result of having a baby sibling.
