dd saying she hates herself because of her friends

Please advise me. My daughter has on and off problems with her friends but today wrote that she hates herself and when I asked her about it told me it was because her 'friends' keep saying they dont want to do anything with her.

I have spoken to the teacher before and I know my dd is v strong willed and can be quite assertive so I do not think she is being bullied. I have told her to play with others but she only wants to play with the girls that are mean to her as they are the 'cool' girls.

My dd is clever and usually happy but I am really worried she is saying and writing these things.. Any advice please??

It sounds to me like she is getting all of her self-worth from these friendships. Is there anything she's really good at that you can encourage after or out of school?
