Have he got things like a treasure basket? At that age mine would happily play with the saucepans and a wooden spoon too, if you can stand the noise. How about making a shaker out of some rice and an empty water bottle. Is there a toy library near to you and what toys does Lo currently have?

One thing that worked for me was toy rotation. We only kept 2 or 3 toys out and I would swap them in the afternoon while they napped so that they had something fresh to play with.

Yes to a treasure basket. Or your handbag!

Its quite annoying but ds loves his fisher Price cookie jar.

All of mine used to happily spend hours (it seemed) knocking over towers built of stacking cups.

Anything he can stack-and knock over.

Genuinely curious, how can an 8 month old be bored?

DD2 is 7.5 months and is too busy trying to crawl to even look at her toys. Is she bored?

I do wonder if shes not very intelligent sometimes. Can 8 month olds be bored?

Hide and squeak eggs are a hit here. Also DD (9 months) loves the cheapy Velcro wallet I bought her and filled with my unused rewards cards. Not really cause and effect, but she likes taking things out - I have dedicated a drawer and a cupboard to her and she'll pull stuff out for ages - I just need to pop back every so often and put everything away
