This is really strange but why does my 4 month old lie with her feet up high in the air then bang them down really hard in the cot at night ??

No idea why, but my DS used to do that at the same age. I think they are "exercises" for developing muscles ready to crawl and walk.

He would spend hours doing stomach crunches too...

To make a really cool noise?

Because they can! DD does this sometimes too.

My DS did this - it othered me for ages but he stopped after a while. He still does it from time to time but it's nowt to worry about. They're so funny aren't they! He's 17 months now and god n,y knows what's coming next! X

We have a 7month old who does exactly this too.

Glad she's not the only one! Grin

She's also going through a weird phase of vigorously shaking her head from side to side.

I'm figuring it's because she can?!

RandomMess · 22/06/2013 20:16

My youngest did this too - she seemed to use it to self soothe herself off to sleep!!! Was very noisy on a weekend away in a mobile home Grin

My DD this too. I noticed that she used to do this when she was really tired. I was really worried about it but she stopped doing it after a while. I guess its just a phase.

My 9mo still does this, she also does it in her sleep. As we cosleep it wakes me up every time!

Think it's building their core muscles, DD did it loads before sitting on her own, then it died down and now she's doing it loads again. She's currently trying to crawl.
