I have a four year old, still not at school, who will not sleep before 10pm! She will stay in her room after 7pm but she plays and almost pulls her room apart for hours, she is just wired! Help

Do you turn the lights off so the room is totally dark?

what have you tried so far? after having lots of sleeping issues with DS 3yo I'd suggest trying:

  1. take everything fun out of her room to make it as boring and unstimulating as possible.
  2. gro-clock
  3. sticker chart for staying in bed at bedtime
  4. when all else fails go for all out bribery (promise of choc buttons the following day worked with my DS) :)

My ds is 8 so a lot older but he's never asleep before 9.30 and he goes to his room about 7.30 at the latest but just doesn't go to sleep. He is in darkness but will lay singing etc for ages, he's always up for school by himself though so think that must just be how much sleep he needs.

If she's playing with toys though I'd stop that and turn lights off.
