One month old - what time to bed? and when to establish a routine?

What time do your young babies go to bed? and when did you start a bedtime routine?

My one month old seems to have forgotten how to sleep, especially at night. She is crying a lot in the evening and isn;t happy unless being carried around (and sometimes even that doesn't work). I think it's overtiredness and wonder if it's time to start a bedtime routine.

Problem is I have a 17 month old and I can't really devote the early evening to the baby and leave him. How did you all get your second babies into a goods sleep pattern? Any advice or tips much appreciated.

You have my sympathies...it's a tough time! Is she Breast or Bottle fed? Is she suffering from wind? One of mine did and she would cry a lot in the evenings too.

I think it's a good time now to establish a bedtime...with my DD2 I would bath her while DH bathed the older one afterwards....when the older one was in the bath I fed the baby.

Once she was fed, it was bedtime in a dark room in her basket.
