Do I put a vest on my 4 month old at night in the warm weather ? She has a rash on her tummy and I think it's a heat rash from being too hot at night ????

Depends on what else she is wearing, if she's in a Gro-bag and what tog, and what the temperature of the room is.

I was always told the rule of thumb is however many layers you are wearing plus 1.
Mind you, my youngest is 12 so that advice might well be out of date (but it worked)

It depends on the temp of the room and the grobag.

So if it's more than 21, no vest just Pjs or just a vest (ie one layer) and 1 tog. If more than 24, just a 1 tog gro bag.

These are my rules BTW! That's what dd is happy with. Taken a bit of trial and error to get there though.

Also depends on the baby imo. DD is 15 weeks and a regular hot water bottle, I'm usually taking layers off her. She's in a 1 tog grobag with a long sleeved vest, the room is around 20-21c.

I'm with NewFerry. The number of layers I wear +1. Tbh, I would always have them in a vest if nothing else if the weather is too warm.

What bloody warm weather?!?

Does she have any symptoms other than localised rash? TBH, I suspect it's more likely to be something like chafing from the top of her nappy than a heat rash.
