Toddler a total nightmare getting ready for bed

My DS has always been a pain to get changed, especially when he's having a nappy change. However he's fine at nursery and when we are out . For the past few months he has turned into a screaming banshee when we get him ready for bed after his bath. He screeeeaaaams and kicks and its so distressing. He's fine in the bath and he's fine going in cot and goes to sleep easily, it's just this inbetween part.

It has been made slightly easier by giving him his milk while we are getting him changed but its still very difficult.

I guess the whole thing only lasts 5 minutes but it is 5 minutes of pure hell! Plus I'm 7 months pregnant and have a very short fuse!

Help .

How old is your DS?

Can you give him your phone to play with??? Give him something he only gets at this particular time......phone, ipod etc

I hav to confess i have smacked my DS (25 months) a couple of time Shock as he was just turning into a total crazy child when getting him changed and i was quite frankly getting beaten to a pulp! The naughty corner has its place dont get me wrong. But i really feel that the best way for kids to understand what "ouch thats sore" means is to have a wee taster themselves. Felt so guilty at the time, but now the threat of a smack works well.

Good luck and make sure you look after your bump Smile
