my grandaughter aged 4 twirls and twists her hair into a large knot always on the same side. this has resulted in restircted hair growth on that side and my dau has sometimes had to cut it as it is impossible to untangle. this is a comfort thing and she only does it when tired (she will also twirl yours if sat next to her) we have a photo of her in the womb (3 d scan) showing her doing this then. How do we stop it as dau is now at wits end as people have started to comment on different lenghts of hair ( we cant keep croping it short like a boys ) any advice welcome. thankyou

Maybe have a soft 'cosy hat' that's fitted quite tightly to her head and get a new long haired comfort toy to twirl/make something yourself with wool/ribbons in different colours.

This seller could maybe make you something suitable (says1-3 but I'm sure could be made to measure)

My cousin used to do that! If it's any comfort she did grow out of it, cant offer any practical advice though.
