I was sitting with him and playing with a puzzle we've got - one of those ones with shapes with little handles - one of them has a cat on and I went 'mieow' and said 'cat' and he said 'cat' too!!!! I wasn't sure the first time but then I gave him it and said it again and he definitely said it.
He was 1 last week and he says mama but this is his first non-mama word.
Don't want to boast but it's so exciting

oh, how lovely Grin

my ds' first word was teddy, and I still remember my amazement at the clarity of it, just coming out of nowhere.

It is thrilling, isn't it!

Hey foundit, congrats, can't believe they're nearly one. Ds is one on Wednesday.
You're right 'cat' is a great one to start with.
