My still-breastfeeding 16 month old has been slow to wean onto solid foods. He refused purees almost entirely and is much happier with "proper" food and is gradually eating more and more. I'm not worried about the weaning per se, as I can see he's getting there. I am, however, having real trouble getting him to eat any fruit or veg. He is quite fussy about what he eats in general.
He was also a terrible sleeper, but has just recently undergone a dramatic improvement (yaay!) This has also meant that he is taking much less milk at night (with a consequent increase in daytime appetite). The unfortunate result of all these great improvements is that he is constipated :( As well as not taking much fruit or veg (just a tiny bit of banana every now and then), he is also very slow to using a cup. He has a cup available at all times and only takes a few small sips of water.
I offer him a range of fruit and veg prepared in different ways each day. He occasionally has a go at it, but the amount that is going in is negligible.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do about the constipation??
