16 month old routine. Does it sound ok?

Just wanted to know if this is similar to anyone else's routine with dc around this age?

5.45/6.15ish am- wakes up, but I don't get her up until 7am (she 'chats' and plays)
7.am- milk
8am - breakfast, weetabix and fruit
11.30 - lunch
12-1.20 - nap
7.00pm bed

Does this sound ok for the age? Does it sound like enough sleep? I worry she is not sleeping enough but I don't know how to lengthen it?

Just wanted to see if this is 'typical' of dc this age really.

Thanks

Our dd slept more overnight at this age. But I think the most important thing is that you are giving plenty of opportunity to sleep.
Ie if she wasn't getting enough she would nap more or sleep in longer in the mornings.
Also don't underestimate the down time first thing in the morning. I think a lot of processing is going on in that hour.

Sounds fine to me :) if it works for you then don't worry. I think it's about 13hrs sleep recommended at this age? Nice long nap too.

They're all different but this is ds's (19mo) usual day, and has been for months:

7.30-8am, wake
8am, breakfast (stopped morning bf at 15mo)
10.30am snack
Between 12-1pm ish, lunch (depends if we're out and about etc)
3.30pm, snack
5.30pm, dinner
6pm, bedtime routine for 6.30pm sleep time.

He does nap, it's just not that predictable. Today was 11.30am for 1hr, other times it's 1pm for 90mins. And some days it's no nap at all... Shock

Mine sleeps about the same - but I can't leave her to chat when she wakes up as she'd wake her sister while she sits saying 'mama' over and over! So our mornings start earlier than yours. We often still have 2 naps. Can't see anything unusual in your routine though. Are you worried about it? You might have to start getting up with her once she's out of a cot though!

Thanks all.

Yellow I think you're right about having to get up with her when she's in a bed. Just making the most of this time right now while she's happy to chat and sing away!

I'm not really worried just curious as to what others are doing. I guess I feel that compared to others her age, she seems to sleep less. She used to sleep 11.5/12hours at night and now sometimes it's only 10.5. Also I think her nap is quite short considering she just has 1.

I'm prabably just worrying and fussing unnecessarily though.

Its not a short one though is it? My daughter often has an hour one in the morning and about 45 min in the afternoon so not a lot of difference. It varies a lot depending on what we are doing that day though (traipsing after bigger sister makes a strict routine impossible).

Sounds ok to me and yes definitely enjoy the mornings! Its lovely to hear them chat isn't it :-)

I have a 16 month old and our routine is

6.30 - he wakes
7-15 - come down and has milk
7.45 - has breakfast
10.30 - snack
11.00 - nap
12.30 lunch
2.30 - snack
4.30 - dinner
5.30 - pudding
6.00 - bed time routine bath and milk
7.00 - bed

Madallie · 17/04/2013 22:08

Thanks again Yellow. Yes, I probably should just relax about it. I guess it's because she's my only dc at the mo!

I will definitely enjoy the early morning babbling. Long may it continue!

Our 6mo routine:

6 wakes up, strokes my face until I wake up me (we co-sleep), has milk and cuddles 1hr/1 1/2hrs)
7-8 porridge
10ish banana
12ish lunch
12.30-3 sleep
3 big snack
6 dinner
9 milk
10 sleep

I'm a sahm, DH works from home all hours, so we share the timetable, egg he'll relieve me at 8am and I'll have another two hours kip, or catch up when DS sleeps. I'm sure DS will have a more 'traditional' routine when he starts nursery in Sept

My 17mo's day looks something like this:

6.15am/7.00am - wake up
7.30am - breakfast (earlier/later depending on when DD1 is awake)
9.30 - snack
11.30 - snack
1pm - lunch (with DD1 when she's home from preschool)
1.30ish - nap for about an hour
3pm - snack
6pm dinner
6.45pm - wind down for bed (wash, teeth, story)
7.15pm/7.45pm - asleep (sometimes later though!
