Tips for getting 6 week old into Moses basket

Dd2 is 6 weeks and I can't seem to get her to sleep in her Moses basket. We r co sleeping right now and I'm really worried she will never go into her own cot. I'm bf and she really likes to use me as a dummy. I've tried every dummy there is but she gags on all of them. Have tried all the usual tricks, my top in the Moses, hot water bottle etc. any ideas?

Can you feed her to sleep then carefully put her in? I know many people see feeding to sleep as a major evil but I did it and it got me through. At least then you get a few hours' quality kip and your bed to yourself.

I try and then she just wriggles and wakes up straight away. I'm wondering if I should have some sort of bedtime routine in place or something?

How long do you wait after she falls asleep before putting her in the basket? Needs to be at least 10+ minutes of solid sleep, IME.

We had the same issue with our DS. He would sleep in the Moses basket in the day but at night wouldn't have any of it. I panicked that we may be stuck co sleeping forever but as it turns out when he got a bit older (10 weeks) I moved him to a travel cot next to me without any issue at all. I just put a cuddly toy next to him so he could nussle up to it.

Is she nice and snug? DD didn't like her crib so we swaddled her and rolled up two cellular blankets to make a u shape at each end, they were put under the sheet. Top of head would be near one and the other under her bum do they feel in.contact . I got that tip on here, if you search for baby won't settle in cot, or similar, it should come up. We also used to pre warm the sheet with a hot water bottle. Desperate for sleep !

Maybe try a sleeping bag so there's no change in temperature. And I always wait 20 min before putting her down. Once she's asleep I mean.

Our 'solution' was waiting until he was older - sorry! Oh and zip-up swaddle pods - amazing things!

Cuddle to sleep holding her AND the moses basket mattress. It will be warm and it'll be easier to get her down

Please don't put any rolled up blankets under the sheet near her head. Suffocation risk.

I made sure they were really warm and snug - if they are being cuddled then they will be really warm from your body heat.

I had one dc who was always held when he fell asleep and 2 who weren't because I just didn't hold them while they fell asleep - I put them down before they got too sleepy and gave them a comforter against their cheek to snuggle up to.

With DS, he finally went down to sleep out of my arms at about 20 weeks

He likes his cot now. Your baby won't be sleeping in your arms at 11, please don't think you've missed the cot-boat!

My top tip is "wait another month". My DD was just like this, grew out of it at about 8 weeks.

My Dd never really slept very well in her Moses basket and we alternated between co sleeping and moses basket for the first few weeks.

In the end I thought I'd try her in the cot and she slept fine. I did swaddle her for the first few weeks. I'd keep her swaddled for feeding and winding too. She would sometimes wake and not settle again, if this happened I'd put her into bed with me.

It's only been in the last week that's she's got herself in a routine and slept really well. Bed at 20.00-20.30 feed anytime between 02.00 and 04.00 and wakes up at 08.00.

If I was you I'd keep co sleeping and just try the Moses basket or cot every few nights. I was told by an in call midwife it was better to put my husbands t shirt in the Moses basket as your baby associates you with milk and will keep wanting to be fed. Hope you get more sleep soon
