How much to indulge requests for particular parent?

DS1 is 2yrs1m. He has always had equally close relationships with us both - DH is at home with him 2 days a week and is a fully involved Dad - but gone through short phases of preferring one of us but it has always settled quickly.

Right now, everything has to be Mummy though, it's getting very wearing (physically as much as anything as I have SPD and he wants me to carry him, dress him, change his nappies etc) and we aren't sure how much to allow him to dictate when we are both around (often he doesn't have a choice as I work shifts).

He has started at a new nursery a month ago which seems to have ramped up the Mummy obsession and also I am 27 weeks with number 2... So maybe those are playing a part.

DH has gone to put him down for his nap and I can hear he is getting hysterical calling for Mummy.

All advice appreciated.

Personally, if I were your DH, I would say sorry, mummy's busy/out and I'm doing xx with you today. I would not indulge. He's just playing you up.

We have this, ds is a real mummy's boy even though dh is a fully involved dad. We just ignore it and say, no mummy is busy it's just daddy now, and attempt to ignore the screaming. Dh gets very hurt by it though

We used to indulge sometimes eg if I was right there. Other times not. It got worse when baby dd arrived and I would try and indulge as he needed reassurance at times.
I'd ease off any new baby talk though - it's so far away for him!

Thanks. Screaming seems to have stopped, no idea if he is asleep but at least not hysterical any more. I feel mean to just be sitting here but I'm full of a cold and shattered, and he really does love his Daddy. Makes me feel awful though :(
