Feeding problems child psychologist cancelled again in total despair

I have posted about my ds 3.3 's eating before as he has been identified by HV as only gaining 7 oz in 15 months. Following the mm advice we contacted a child psychologist ourselves as we thought he might be on the autistic spectrum as he is so oppositional and controlling. We saw the psychologist on 5th march for a 1st meeting things thereafter deteriorated even further cp arranged to visit ds at nursery then ds got chicken pox, appointment today just been cancelled as cp sick. can't stop crying don't know how we will get through weekend. He has been so very difficult from birth, am in total dispair don't know what to do or how to carry on. Help?

Have you been to the GP? Or got any help at all from nursery? I really think that you need to post on the Special Needs board here on MN as the people on there are SO understanding and also very knowledgable about getting to see the right people asap.

I'm sorry you're feeling so down...how is DS managing at nursery at the moment? Is he coping?

Thanks for the reply, nursery have been keeping a food diary and although he eats far better there it is certainly not straightforward. I am constantlyb shocked by how much other children eat. The cancellation was the last straw can't do this any more.

Hi jussey. So sorry you're upset. It's so tough isn't it? We went down the child psychologist route for feeding issues at one stage too. I don't have any magic solutions but just wanted to say that you're not alone. Xx

Ban eating at the table for now, unless that is where he feels he must sit to eat.

If I were you, I would plonk him down in front of the tv with a plate of things he has eaten before in a format he likes. Then just stay close enough for safety and ignore him. Don't comment on it, in any way, either positively or negatively.

If he will drink milk, give him milk.

Also, have you had him weighed by a professional? I know that sounds flippant but it's easy to panic about them not eating but unless he is dangerously underweight, you don't need to panic. They can survive on so very little calories.

Ps I WAS this child, and I agree with hothead. Would also like to reassure you that although I nearly put my mother in her grave before I was five, I've never given her a seconds bother since and am actually very well nourish and fat

Thanks for the input PDA is our hunch too as to why we are finding everything so tough. He has been professionally weighed by the HV which is why we know he has only gained 100g in 15 months and has dropped from the 75th to the 10th percentile (although his height seems to be ok).
I just don't understand how people can do this mothering thing and be wistful about their children growing up so fast, it has been such a terrible time ever since the day he was born and I just see no prospect of any thing ever improving. I just think he'd be better off somewhere else as obviously he is the most delightful child imaginable at nursery, however with me he spits on the floor and last week I had to lock myself in the bathroom (with him screaming and banging on the door)just to stop him from hitting me. after time out completely failed. Surely this can't be normal three year old behaviour.

Op, 3 year olds are horrid. Terrible twos to fecking fours. Hang on in there.
