My DD (9months1/2) goes to nursery 4 days a week. And out of these 4 days, a beautiful 11 months old little girl is there for 2 days. She cries from the minute her mum leaves her at 08am till 5pm. There is only 15 babies maximum. It just seems very stressful for everybody, and I am not too sure how much it does affect the other ones (the babies are between 6 months and 2 years old). The mum knows about it, and it must be so hard for her since she needs to be at work. I feel very sad for her, her baby and the carers Sad so do I for my DD and the other babies who wouldn't know what is going on because they all look so happy...

are you sure she cries all day?

sunandmoon · 09/05/2006 14:48

She cries when mummy leaves her, then cries having a breakfast, then she gets very tired, doesn't want to sleep and it is just a bad cycle. All the other mums feel so sorry too because we all come at different times and always sees her crying... the carers try to give her cuddles but nothing works... it is very painful to see her Sad.

do they give her a dummy? You would think the mother would take her out if she is so unhappy

starlover · 09/05/2006 14:51

how do you know she cries all day?

tbh if she does then i'm surprised the staff haven't suggested that the mum takes her out.

I so agree with you compo. She doesn't have a dummy. This morning one of a carer took her on her lap, then she cried, then she tried to change her mind by playing the little spider, then she cried, she sang her a song, then she cried... so the cook gave her a warm bottle of milk, and she carried on crying drinking her milk!!! My DD was playing on her own, and I did think that if she was crying like that (after 4 months of being there), I would have take her out and find an other way... even if it was to stop working and live poorly for a while...

god there is no way i w0uld leave ds if he cried all day... that's just not fair on the child and not fair on the carers and other babies :(

Hi starlover. We do speak to the carers after picking the babies, and they do mention her crying all day... it is a very friendly nursery and they might not have said to the mum to take her out but told her that she cries... the mum must have realised it too!!!!
She lives around the corner(so it is handy to bring her and pick her up)and maybe she thinks her daughter will get better....
