Movicol and night tummy aches

I've been reading loads of threads on here about the joys of constipation and movicol, but I haven't noticed anyone else mentioning the tummy aches. My ds ( 3) is on the movicol and it is working in as far as its keeping him cleared out, but every night for about 3 hours he lies there wimpering with tummy pain. He was doing this before the movicol, I guess he's stretched his bowel and its quite sore. but now I have no idea whether to increase the dose to make things pass through more easily or whether its the movicol that is causing the cramping now. i can cope with the pant soiling and painful poos but this tummy ache is relentless . he is very run down from lack of sleep..Anyone else had this?

I'd take him straight to the GP. He really shouldn't be loosing sleep with pain.

we had it during the daytime. IT was horrendous and DD missed out on a lot of life for a year or so - left parties, wouldn't go to anyone's house. I had to film it on my phone and show the doctor to be taken seriously about it. We switched to high doses of senna instead and it stopped the pain / got the issue sorted eventually

My ds is almost 1 and is on movocol. He is suffering with tummy pains too
mainly at night. He's quite a gassy child. We have been using infant gaviscon ( prescribed by gp) as he always seems quite windy and thought he had a bit of silent reflux. A few times it was almost like he had colic but this was recently. Always better once he'd brought some wind up.

I'm trying to control it more with diet - fresh juice with breakfast and to 'windy' foods like bakes beans. I've found the gaviscon plus tummy massage etc before bed really helps.

Would your ds try peppermint cordial to help ease his wind?

My older son was on movocol when he was a toddler and was fine tho.

How often does your ds have the movocol and at what time of day? I think a trip to gp wouldbt hurt. Maybe ask go be referred if your not happy.

So many children seem to be having these similar problems. I know of a lot of children who are on movocol.
