Hi
Our ds is almost 3 months and has had a hammock he was very happy in until the last week or so when he started trying to roll so we decided to move him to his cot.

He's okay in it (wide awake) in the day but if we put him down to sleep or already asleep at night he wakes up immediately and starts crying. We've tried rolled up towel to wedge a bit which doesn't help, holding his hand to settle, pick up feed and resettle and nothing makes any difference. He sleeps happily in our bed, but I want our bed back for us!

Not sure it will help you now, but we put all dc in their moses basket in their cots from between 3 and 8 weeks old (different times for our 4dc). This way, they got used to their new surroundings while still being enclosed in their moses basket. The transition into the cot came a few weeks later without problems for us. Could your ds be too cold in the cot? I always felt they were so wrapped up and snug in their moses basket but the cot is so much bigger and doesn't snuggle them as much.

Was the hammock an Amby? Even if they can roll it's pretty hard for them to manage in the hammock - I'd leave him in it for a while. What worked for our two was having a baby sheepskin (Bowron do nice ones) in the hammock and then moving that along with baby to the cot at about 6 months. The transition wasn't problematic, it all smelt right etc.

Hi, u mentioned about sheepskins - I've heard several posters mentions that these help. Would u be able to post the link to ones that worked u? Also, r they safe under SIDs guidelines, I have a 21 wk old? Smile

Try baababy.co.uk for sheepskins .

Thanks - the hammock is a mylo.. the issue isn't stopping him rolling but that he wants to and is prevented which makes him cross and wake up..

These ones, for both DD and DS from birth. They both outgrew them eventually, obviously, and then we used them as bedroom rugs, but DD (now nearly 4) has taken to sleeping on hers in bed again when it's cold! They're warm when it's cold, and cool when it's hot - really great! Am about to buy another one for DS2 who's supposedly arriving any day now.
