[Potty Training] Car seat/ pushchair seat protector from 'accidents'

Hi,

I've had a very successful week at potty training and am now ready to venture out of the house (poor DD has been cooped up for days!).

I'm told not to put DD back in nappies under any circumstances but as it's still early days I'm sure there are going to be some accidents in her pushchair and car seat.

What should I use to protect the car seat/ pushchair etc? I'm not comfortable with using a cushion as such as I don't know that it's safe in the car seat - but I might be wrong. Should I just go and buy some seat protectors from eg. JoJoMaman or are there some handy alternatives?

You can get disposable bedcovers/changing mats by pampers, think they are called comfort mats or care mats. Or even a carrier bag under the carseat cover.
FWIW, DD never had an accident in car or buggy, only at home on the carpet.(and in bed!!)

My friend used a disposable nappy mat type thing, think it was Pampers or the like, got them from supermarkets.

Don't think they are designed for this purpose but for using when changing nappies when out and about but she said they were ideal as they are waterproof, or pee and poo proof!

Pah, littlerach beat me to it!

Pampers care mats are good - £4.99 for 12. However, being very cheap, I just put a folded up bath towel under them.

Good luck!

Yep I used a Pampers Care Mat folded in four (they are very thin so doesn't make a huge thickness) in DS's car seat and it did save us once or twice. I think they are about a fiver for a pack of ten so not that cheap but I've still got about 8 left.

Sorry, no advice but potty training going better today and am feeling happy (for now ) so will await any advice.

Have you nearly gone mad being couped up???!

Bozza · 22/01/2004 15:20

Oh do you get 12? Thought I might use one on the car seat when I get into the mega pregnant stages in case my waters go. Unlikely because didn't until well into second stage last time. Also might be useful for leaking breasts in bed... So not wasted.

Another Pampers Care Mat user here.

Oh that's good then. I already use those for changing nappies when we're out. I didn't think to use them for soaking up accidents. How clever! Thanks!
