When do they grow out of Cbeebies?

Couldn't decide whether to post in here or Telly Addicts

DD is almost 6, and I would say not especially immature, nor especially mature for her age. But she still always wants to watch Cbeebies when we have the TV on.

DS is just 4 and loves a whole film - Ghostbusters, Iron Man, Ghibli films, and he likes Merlin, Sarah Jane Adventures, those nature programmes on CBBC, and all that kind of thing. He understands what's going on and really enjoys them.

But DD would rather watch Numberjacks, Third and Bird, Everythings Rosie and other things aimed at the tiny ones. Is she a bit odd? I mean that nicely She is otherwise a fairly standard issue yr1.

Neither of them get to watch a lot of TV except today because school closed due to a water problem

Depends on the dc. DD is 5yo and wouldn't watch cbeebies through choice. She doesn't watch tv really anyway, certainly not on weekdays and if offered at a weekend she'll choose a dvd or Merlin/Dr Who/Total Wipeout/Crystal Maze. That's it. Oh and The Cube is back on. She likes that too. Like I said though, tv isn't her preference in general as we don't watch it.

DS is 18mo and has never really show the remotest interest in the tv on the rare occasions it's on.

I have a 5yo niece who loves cbeebies like nothing else.

I have a 3yo niece who likes watching Top Gear like nothing else.

I think they're all different.

My amost 10 year old still enjoys some things on cbeebies. It doesn't bother me, he can like what he likes, it's not hurting anyone.

With mine it was about sevenish.

My DD is almost 6 and has discovered Boomerang. I am sick of wall to wall Tom and Jerry.

She will still watch a lot of CBeebies but some things she's definitely grown out of. Sadly my DH encourages her NOT to watch CBeebies as he doesn't like it says she's too old.

DS loves The Crystal Maze, we watched it together last night. DD wanted a 'children's programme instead'

They do both like Total Wipeout though. Though DD gets bored after 10mins, she has the attention span of a gnat. Unless she is playing some great long imaginary game where she bosses all her toys around.

I suppose I am just really sick of Cbeebies and looking forward to her growing out of it. I don't mind Octonauts, I quite like it but the rest is annoying me now.

I was worried that she would instantly "grow up" starting school so secretly happy that she still wants cbeebies

She's only rejected Thomas and the night garden as baby-ish

Ds is 2 and she's assigned those to him

I'm 27 and I love watching In the Night Garden. I often find myself watching it even if DS has lost interest and walked away from the TV

My DSS is about to turn six and has not grown out of Cbeebies, but has grown into CBBC throughout his sixth year. We always encourage CBBC when me and OH are in the room because Justin's House and the like is torture to us! He pretty much goes for CBBC as the default option now unless there is a program he really doesn't like on.

By no means has he grown out of CBeebies yet though.

DS is 6 and is just getting into CBBC. He's not interested in the drama but LOVES Dick & Dom's new science show and the other factual ones (vets + a rescue one IIRC).

But he'll still happily watch Octonauts, Mike the Knight and Nina.

4yo DD will watch the same CBBC as her big brother but she's still quite attached to ITNG at the end of the day. as am I

About 4 or 5 here. I think friends at school started suggesting other things to watch so they started watching Nickelodeon instead. Now and 6 and 8 they would be very annoyed if I put on Cbeebies as apparently "it's for BABIES!!"

DD started getting into a few CBBC programmes at 5, but even at 9 will watch a few Cbeebies things.

Dd aged 10 enjoys mike the knight and knows all the words to the song...

She would die if her school friends knew! :)

DD is nearly 4 and stopped watching Cbeebies about 6 months ago. She went through a short phase of Disney Junior and Nick Jr but is now obsessed with Spongebob Squarepants on Nick Toons.

I am now in the bizarre position of actually missing the days of Cbeebies, something I thought would never happen.
