Anyone else got a cheeky 7 year old?

...who always has to have the last word?
And has anyone found a way to have a conversation with them that doesn't end with the words "please don't speak to me like that?" or "please don't speak to your brother like that."
I'm at the end of my tether with ds1. He is a bright, funny boy but just lately everything seems to end in an argument because even the most straightforward request is met with attitude. I thought this would start at about 13.

My 5(!) year old has just started with this too. It's unbearable. I told him I would prefer he left a camping expedition (sleeping in our spare room in a tent) to the weekend, and he screamed at me, "Mummy, you spoil everything" in such a teenagery way I was

Today he has run upstairs and slammed the door after yelling at me that I'm mean.

I don't know what to do other than stay calm and remind him it's not acceptable. I hold back treats and sweets and explain why too.

I feel your pain too! My 6 (going on 16!) year old dd can fly off the handle at the slightest thing!

Today I asked her to pick up her toys and she pushed past me screaming 'I hate my family!', stormed up the stairs and slammed her bedroom door! She has so much anger sometimes!

The vast majority of the time she is so sweet and good natured, and school have never seen this side to her, it's reserved just for us

I'm sorry I have no advice, but hope someone wiser will come along soon! We've tried withdrawing treats, favourite toys etc but it's do random when it occurs. She doesn't appear to have control over her emotions yet, any tips on how to help her understand this?
